Poll shows voters angry with Congress

Congress is on a holiday break. One pollster says voters are ready to put some in Congress on permanent holiday.

It's been one of the busiest years in memory for lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

The Senate approved a US Supreme Court Justice and passed a healthcare bill. The House approved its own healthcare bill, plus a climate change bill — and it will take up immigration reform after the first of the year.

But nationwide, unemployment is still in double digits and the housing market hasn't recovered.

Pollster Scott Rasmussen says that's bad news for Congress. "Two out of three people nationwide say they're angry at the federal government," he says. "Thirty six percent are very angry. The defining feature of those people? Overwhelmingly, they don't think the Republicans or the Democrats understand what's needed."

But most Congressional incumbents are still expected to win back their seats in the midterm elections. Rasmussen says the most vulnerable are first term Congressional members.
