A labor dispute came close to disrupting service on a number of Foothill Transit routes, but the agency's buses are rolling on a normal schedule.
The Teamsters Union represents bus drivers who work out of Foothill Transit's Pomona Operations Yard. The union's contract talks with First Transit, the company that employs the drivers at the yard, broke down as the holidays approached.
Foothill Transit was not directly involved in the negotiations, but it began to notify riders early last week that a strike might happen. The potential work stoppage threatened to cancel service temporarily on 5 commuter express lines and 6 local lines.
The union and the employer returned to the bargaining table, and on Saturday, the Teamsters approved a new contract.
