5 hurt in Silver Lake bus crash; 1 remains hospitalized
Five people were hurt when a truck crashed into a Metro bus in the Silver Lake area, including one who remained hospitalized today, according to authorities.
The crash was reported at 9:05 p.m. Monday in the 1800 block of North Glendale Boulevard, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Five adults – four from the bus and one from the truck – were transported to hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Scott said.
The driver of the truck was on the offramp of the Glendale (2) Freeway, struck a guardrail, went through a red light and slammed into the bus, said Sgt. Gregory Hoyte of the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Traffic Division.
Because the sequence of events began on the freeway offramp, the California Highway Patrol was assigned to the investigation, Hoyte said.
The driver of the truck remained hospitalized early today. Hoyte added that no arrest has been made as of this morning.
Results of the CHP's crash investigation were not available this morning, said Officer Patrick Kimball of the CHP's Traffic Management Center.
