This is a big weekend for movies. The Independent Spirit Awards are tonight and the 82nd Academy Awards follow on Sunday. It’s not a bad time for television either.
The Paley Center for Media is hosting its annual PaleyFest – an opportunity to hear from the creators and cast members of some of the most popular shows on TV, including "Lost," "Dexter," and "Glee."
"PaleyFest is one of the most unique celebrations of television and the relationship between television fans and the stars and creators of the shows they like," says Rene Reyes, producer of PaleyFest.
The PaleyFest is now in its 27th year. Reyes says over the years, televesion has changed dramatically. "The biggest change is how much ownership audiences now have with their favorite television shows and how much easier it is for them to interact with them online."
One of his favorite moments so far during this year's PaleyFest was during the panel on "Lost." He said one fan stood up to ask a question and announced that she had PaleyFest to thank for her husband. Turns out the two had met in line for the 2005 PaleyFest panel on "Lost."
"That kind of stuff is just kind of earth-shattering to me," Reyes says, "To see how people connect in different ways through this event. It's very gratifying."
