A man was seriously wounded in a shooting at a party in East Los Angeles and deputies were looking for the shooter early today.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. Monday at a home near Fourth Street and Arizona Avenue, said East Los Angeles sheriff's Lt. Carlos Marquez.

The injured man underwent surgery but it was unclear what his condition was about two and half hours after the shooting, Marquez said.

Somebody recognized the shooter and deputies expected to have a flier describing the man prepared to distribute to the public later today, Marquez said.

The shooting occurred at a home with balloons tied to a fence for the party, a video crew at the scene reported.

Anyone with information about the shooting was encouraged to call the East L.A. Station at (323) 264-4151.
