Man wounded in East LA shooting near death

A man wounded in a shooting in East Los Angeles was hospitalized today and listed as "death-imminent," authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of North Arizona Avenue, said Lt. Carlos Marquez of the Sheriff's East Los Angeles Station.

The man was taken to a hospital and a death investigation was launched, Marquez said.

There was no suspect information, Marquez said, adding that the incident appeared unrelated to a shooting at a party at Fourth Street and Arizona Avenue on Monday night, when a man was wounded and underwent surgery.

Anyone with information about the shootings was urged to call the sheriff's East L.A. Station at (323) 264-4151.
