AIDS Healthcare Foundation calls for mandatory use of condoms for porn industry

At a hearing in Los Angeles today, an AIDS advocacy group will call for the mandatory use of condoms among adult film actors.

To the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the wearing of condoms is a workplace safety issue, not unlike gloves and masks worn by doctors and nurses. The California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board will be hearing testimony from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

The group filed a petition in December mandating the use of condoms by actors who have sex on film, an effort to protect actors from sexually transmitted diseases like HIV. There’s currently a nationwide law that requires adult film actors to show proof they’ve tested negative for HIV and other STDs within 30 days of going to work on a film.
