Santa Ana street floods due to water main rupture

A one-block stretch of a residential street in Santa Ana was closed today due to flooding from a water main rupture.

"The entire street is flooded," said Santa Ana police Commander Tammy Franks.

The flooding was reported at 12:45 a.m. near Standard Avenue and Saint Gertrude Place, a Santa Ana Fire dispatcher said. Police learned of the street flooding four minutes later, a police dispatcher said.

Saint Gertrude Place was closed by the flooding from Evergreen Street to Standard Avenue, she said.

The flooding was due to a broken water main, firefighters at the scene told camera crews.

The Santa Ana Department of Public Works responded to stem the water flow and make repairs, Franks said.
