Electric cars rolling into showrooms soon cheaper than expected

The electric car has turned a corner. For the first time, a mass market electric car went on sale in Japan. It is the all electric family car, the i-MiEV from Mitsubishi.

Also last week, Nissan announced the price of the all electric Leaf will be $32,000.

Today, some Southern California electric car advocates are touring the Nissan Leaf plant in Tennessee.

(Audio: KPCC’s Shirley Jahad talked with one of them, Zan Dubin Scott of Plug In America. She says the Leaf will cost less after federal and state incentives.)
