82-year-old arrested in Long Beach stabbing

LONG BEACH — Police say an 82-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his 60-year-old roommate to death at an assisted living facility in Long Beach.

Long Beach police Officer Jackie Bezart says officers were called to the Crofton Manor Inn Friday morning on a report of a "person down."

Bezart says when officers arrived they were directed to a room where they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victim, identified as William Wells, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Bezart says Wells' roommate, Gilbert Baca, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The motive of the stabbing is under investigation.
