SAN FRANCISCO — Democrats vying to be California's next attorney general are reaffirming their support for abortion rights.
San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, Assemblymen Pedro Nava, Alberto Torrico and Ted Lieu, as well as Facebook Chief Privacy Officer Chris Kelly and former Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, appeared together at a forum in San Francisco Saturday.
At the event, organized by NARAL Pro-Choice California, all six candidates said they were opposed to requiring that parents of a minor seeking an abortion be notified.
They also agreed that public funding for abortion should not be restricted.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown was expected to speak later.
NARAL Pro-Choice California State Director Amy Everitt said Republicans running for statewide office either declined to attend or never responded.
