Arrests made in connection with stabbing of woman after fender-bender in Pasadena

PASADENA — Two people have been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a woman during a road rage incident in Pasadena.

Police said Monday that Elizabeth Cortez and her boyfriend Erik Mota are being held on $1 million bail each.

Lt. Keith Jones says the suspects argued with a woman after a fender-bender accident in a parking garage.

Cortez allegedly got out of the passenger seat and reached through an open window to stab the victim in the chest and thigh. Mota was allegedly driving when they fled the scene.

Police say the victim drove away until she passed out and hit another car. She was hospitalized in serious condition but is expected to survive.

Police matched a license plate captured on surveillance tape with Cortez's car registration.
