Thieves take ATM from Crowne Plaza Hotel in Garden Grove

GARDEN GROVE — Police are looking for two suspects who disconnected and carried an automated teller machine with about $15,000 out of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Garden Grove today.

The theft occurred at 5:10 a.m. at the hotel at 12021 Harbor Blvd., according to Lt. Jeff Nightengale of the Garden Grove Police Department.

The suspects pushed a two-wheeled hand dolly and a moving blanket into the lobby, and started to load the ATM onto it.

An employee of the coffee shop across from where the ATM was located started to question the suspects as they began disconnecting the machine.

The suspects ignored the employee, lifted the ATM onto the dolly, and walked out a rear service door near the kitchen area.

The machine was worth about $5,000.

Anyone with information on the theft was asked to call the Garden Grove Police Department Investigations Unit at (714) 741-5800.
