Glendale police in standoff after domestic violence report

Glendale police, responding to a report that a man was threatening his girlfriend with a knife, surrounded a home in a standoff that stretched into the early morning hours today.

Police went to the home in the 800 block of East Colorado Street based on a report of domestic violence received about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

A SWAT team was dispatched about an hour later, Lorenz said.

Police remained at the scene as of about 2 a.m. today, but it was unclear if the suspect was still inside or had escaped.
