The initial crash triggered a second accident when the driver of a Lexus crashed into the truck. The CHP closed the Hollywood Freeway 101 while they investigated the accidents.
Traffic along the 5 and 134 freeways backed up for miles into Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles, but all lanes were later reopened around 8:30 a.m. according to the CHP office.
The coroner’s office did not identify the 45-year-old male driver of the Lexus who died in the crash, indicating that they needed to notify his family. No other injuries were reported.
