Eight members of Congress — including a GOP member from Orange County — are under investigation by a House ethics committee.
The three Democrats and five Republicans sit on either the House Financial Services Committee or the Ways and Means Committee. Both committees have been working on the financial regulation bill.
The newspaper The Hill reports that one lawmaker under investigation is GOP Congressman John Campbell of Irvine.
The House Office of Congressional Ethics has sent letters to lobbyists asking for information about campaign contributions made to the lawmakers during the last year and a half.
In a statement from his office, Congressman Campbell says he’s “cooperating fully and looks forward to an expedient and favorable resolution.”
