Police match DNA in 1983 murder of 8-year-old girl

Los Angeles police have issued an arrest warrant against a man suspected of murdering an 8-year-old girl who was kidnapped while walking home from school in 1983.

Police on Tuesday say they matched DNA evidence linking Luis Garcia Villalvazo to the death of Victoria Denise Brown.

The girl was snatched in Watts and her body was found about a day later in the trunk of an abandoned car 16 miles away.

Villalvazo is serving a 92-year prison sentence in Juarez, Mexico for the 2005 murder of a 7-year-old girl. He also was convicted of sexually assaulting three girls.

Prosecutors plan to request his extradition.
