Audiences in Los Angeles County will be able to hear musical offerings that range from Zydeco to Latin Jazz this summer and beyond. Here's a preview of 78 free concerts all over the county through early autumn.
L.A. County’s Parks After Dark Program presents 23 of the concerts that get underway this Thursday. The program works with the county’s anti-gang initiative to offer productive activities to young people. Those concerts will take place at Ted Watkins and Franklin Roosevelt parks in Florence, and at Pamela Park in Duarte.
The Memorial Park Bandshell in Pasadena will present Zydeco, the accordion-driven music of Southwest Louisiana. The Mariachi Divas will perform at Cesar Chavez Amphitheatre in Baldwin Park. Bali and Beyond is on the bill in Northridge, and Japanese taiko drummers will take to the stage in Long Beach.
The County Arts Commission’s Musicians Roster chooses the performing artists. You can review that list online at LACountyArts.org. That’s where you can also see a rundown of this summer’s concert schedule.
