The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office released the name of a San Fernando Valley woman who died just after she was pulled from her swimming pool Sunday night.
The victim has been identified by the coroner's office as Marie Santoro.
A neighbor attempted to rescue the 80-year-old woman who lived on the 16000 block of Vincennes Street.
“The neighbor pulled the woman to the shallow end of the pool, but she had been underwater and was not breathing,” Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
“Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after the woman was discovered," Humphrey added. "They administered CPR, but she still had no pulse and was non-responsive when she was transported."
Santoro was transferred to the Northridge Hospital Medical Center where she died, Humphrey said.
Authorities said the drowning appears to be an accident.
