WEST HOLLYWOOD - A Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman says 63 hotel workers were arrested during a peaceful protest against Hyatt hotels in West Hollywood.
Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says all 63 were cited and released Thursday for failure to disperse, a misdemeanor.
A section of Sunset Boulevard near Hyatt's Andaz West Hollywood hotel was closed for the scheduled protest which began at 5 p.m. and ended at about 6:30 p.m.
A union spokeswoman says the workers were protesting job cuts and elimination of health care benefits in the Hyatt chain.
The Andaz West Hollywood hotel said Hyatt has been participating in union contract negotiations in good faith and honoring its contracts.
Similar protests were held at Hyatt hotels in 14 other cities in the United States and Canada.
