Authorities say a youth suffered cardiac arrest and died after swimming in a pool at a Los Angeles County juvenile hall.
Probation department spokeswoman Kerri Webb says the male youth said he felt ill after getting out of the pool Saturday evening at the Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall in Sylmar.
He collapsed and staff members attempted attempted CPR, as did responding paramedics. But efforts to revive the boy failed and he was pronounced dead.
Webb says the youth was under age 18, but declined to discuss details about his case until family was notified.
