Police say a 14-year-old boy who they initially reported dead is on life support after being rescued from a house fire in Los Angeles.
Flames had engulfed the two-story suburban Sherman Oaks home by the time firefighters arrived around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Los Angeles city fire spokesman Brian Humphrey says a 58-year-old man, a 50-year-old woman, a 12-year-old girl and the teen boy were hospitalized with serious burns. They are believed to
be family members.
Police reported hours later that the teenager had died, but police spokesman Richard French says that was an erroneous report.
French says the teen is on life support.
Sherman Oaks Hospital Chief Executive Robert Bills says the teen was transferred to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
The fire's cause hasn't been determined.
