California faces another day of record-breaking heat

More record-breaking heat is expected as California swelters under triple-digit temperatures for a third day.

The National Weather Service is issuing warnings of high heat and humidity Wednesday in Central and Southern California mountains, valleys and deserts. A lesser heat advisory is in place for San Jose and interior valleys around San Francisco Bay.

Los Angeles will see highs in the 90s but the weather service says it will hit 105 in the San Fernando Valley.

There's also a 20-percent chance of an afternoon thunderstorm in the mountains, which could bring lightning and a chance of wildfires.

Record highs were reported in several locations Tuesday. Weather service meteorologist Eric Boldt says a few records could be broken again Wednesday before temperatures drop Thursday.
