WEST HOLLYWOOD - Thousands of people are expected to rock out to Smashing Pumpkins, former Guns N' Roses guitar god Slash and Fergie at the third annual Sunset Strip Music Festival, starting today.
The music starts at 1 p.m. on the famed strip, with more than 50 bands on two outdoor stages between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard.
The Roxy Theatre, Whiskey a Go-Go, Viper Room, Key Club, Cat Club and House of Blues will also host live performances.
Tickets are $49.50 each and include admission to the clubs. VIP tickets, which include access to tents with seats, cash bars and prime seating at the outdoor stages, are $100.
About 10,000 people attended the music festival last year.
The event will also have a hip-hop flavor, with performances by Common, Kid Cudi and Travie McCoy, whose single ``Billionaire'' is inescapable this summer.
Sunset Boulevard will be closed between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard from 6 a.m. today to 7 a.m. Sunday.
