200-acre fire burns in rural San Diego County
CAMPO — A wildfire burning in rural San Diego County between the towns of Campo and Potrero has grown to 200 acres.
California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokeswoman Roxanne Provaznik says the fire is approaching Star Ranch and a strike team of engines will stage there for structure protection.
The blaze was reported at 1:13 p.m. Thursday near the Pacific Crest Trail about 50 miles east of San Diego.
Numerous aircraft are helping ground crews battle the flames.
Star Ranch is a 2,100-acre horse and cattle ranch proposed for a housing development.
Elsewhere, firefighters contained a 65-acre blaze that broke out Wednesday in Riverside County and a 20-acre grass fire that injured several people and burned four mobile homes in rural Tehama County.
