Edison lets electric car buyers figure out potential power bills

If you're considering buying an electric car, you can now go online to get an estimate of how much the vehicle will increase your power bill.

Southern California Edison officials announced today that the "Plug-in Car Rate Assistant" is available at sce.com/pev.

Edison customers can provide information such as location, type of vehicle, mileage and time of day the car will be used, and the calculator will provide an estimate of monthly electric bills, as well as a comparison to the cost of gas. The website also includes educational videos about what it takes to become "plug-in ready."
