Los Angeles County firefighters are searching an area of the Angeles National Forest after someone reported seeing several hikers stuck in mud.
Fire Inspector Don Kunitomi said crews rushed to an area near the Chantry Flats campground after receiving the call Monday afternoon. He said they hiked up a trail to where the hikers were said to be trapped, but did not find anybody there.
Kunitomi said the search is continuing, but some search and rescue units have been released from the scene.
A low pressure system has brought cool and drizzly weather to the Los Angeles region, which just a week ago baked under record-breaking temperatures.
