With Halloween coming up this weekend, there’s lots of scary stuff on the big screen. Here's the latest box office numbers.
“Paranormal Activity 2” wins the weekend box office with about $42 million. It is the sequel of the micro-budgeted hit thriller from last Halloween about a menacing spirit that takes over a house. It is also shot documentary style.
The first "Paranormal" movie cost $15,000. It rolled out gradually, moving from city to city with online buzz from an Internet marketing campaign. It grew to become a sensation that brought in $100 million.
The 3-D version of "Jackass" is second at the box office with about $22 million. The all-star action comedy "Red" with retired spies getting back in the game is third with $15 million.
The supernatural drama “Hereafter” is fourth with $12 million. The Clint Eastwood movie starring Matt Damon opened at a few theaters last week and in broader release this weekend.
