Angelenos gather to mark World AIDS Day

The Wall Las Memorias Project in Lincoln Park outside downtown L.A.

In commemoration of World AIDS Day, on Wednesday evening several hundred people were expected to gather in Lincoln Park just outside downtown L.A. to mark the event and remember friends and family who died of the disease.

The Wall Las Memorias Project is a monument established in the park to remember AIDS victims and to create a space for dialogue. The monument includes walls with names of those who have died of HIV and AIDS, and it includes several murals.

Organizers planned a program with music and speakers. Free HIV and AIDS screening were are also available.
