California denies license to porn industry clinic

California health officials have denied a porn industry health clinic's bid for a license to operate as a community clinic.

State Department of Public Health officials confirmed Wednesday that it notified the San Fernando-based Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation that its application has been denied. AIM applied for a license in June after officials told them they needed one to continue operating.

The Los Angeles Times says it's unclear what effect the state's denial would have on the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation. Producers of heterosexual porn rely on AIM to test performers for sexually transmitted diseases before filming begins.

Voluntary testing was designed to avoid state-mandated regulations. AIM says its tests have resulted in the quarantine of actors.
