Blake Edwards, Director Of 'The Pink Panther' And Other Hits, Has Died

"The filmmaker was regarded as a modern master of contemporary film comedy via such movies as The Pink Panther series and 10," Variety writes. His wife, Julie Andrews, was with him at his death.

"A spokesman for Blake Edwards says the filmmaker has died in Southern California at the age of 88," the Associated Press reports.

As Variety writes:

"The filmmaker was regarded as a modern master of contemporary film comedy via such movies as The Pink Panther series and 10."

According to the AP, "publicist Gene Schwam says Edwards died from complications of pneumonia at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica. His wife, Julie Andrews, and other family members were at his side."
