Bands strut their stuff on Wednesday, Dec. 29. 2010, at the Tournament of Rose’s annual Bandfest performances at Pasadena City College.

The Tournament of Rose’s annual Bandfest performances got underway today at Pasadena City College, featuring the marching bands that are in the parade lineup.

The Upland Highland Regiment from Upland High School is one of the bands that’ll march down Colorado Boulevard on Saturday.

Mark Capaldo, one of the school’s band directors, said that the regiment is ready for a great New Year’s Day.

"I hope that they relish the moment, the chance that they get to do something of this magnitude," Capaldo said. "I think that they’re learning how to deal with it and just enjoy what’s going on around them."

Being together as a group, working hard at something, and making beautiful music, is the best thing about being in a marching band, he said.

The annual Bandfest at Pasadena City College resumes tomorrow with sessions at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m.
