Democratic U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein is getting off to a slow start in the Congressional session that begins tomorrow. That’s the day California’s senior Senator is scheduled to undergo knee replacement surgery.
Congress returns to work this week. But the U.S. Senate will miss one of its Democratic members: Dianne Feinstein of California.
The 77- year-old senator will have a knee replacement operation in San Francisco.
The state’s senior Senator says she won’t be able to return to Washington for about three weeks, until she heals from the surgery. Until then, she says she’ll work from home, keeping an eye on issues of importance to Californians.
The one task she can’t do from home? Vote. And Senate Democrats need her: their majority shrank to just 53 after the November elections.
