This undated photo released by the Pima County Sheriff's Office shows shooting suspect Jared Loughner.

A former congressional aide, Jacquelyn Jackson, was outside the Safeway supermarket in Tucson when someone shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and several other people on Saturday. Jackson is friends with many of Giffords' staff.

Audio: Jackson gives detailed description of the shooting to KPCC Producer Roger Rudick.

Jackson told KPCC that she’d gone to her car to grab her cell phone when the shooting started.

“So I ran over, opened the car door and grabbed the phone and just heard this pow, pow, pow," said Jackson. "I saw my friend Pam face-down on the concrete – then I saw Gabrielle slumped down from the left side. She looked beatific and beautiful in her bright red jacket. And then I heard someone say, 'She has a pulse! She has a pulse!'”

The shooting left six people dead and 14, including Giffords, with gunshot wounds. Federal authorities Monday charged 22-year-old Jared Loughner in connection with the attack. A judge ordered him held without bail.
