LA Metro holds more meetings on proposed Westside subway extension

Another series of public meetings begins Monday night on Los Angeles County Metro’s proposed Westside subway extension.

The extension would stretch Metro’s purple line from at Wilshire and Western to a terminus at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Westwood. Metro’s board of directors chose a route six months ago that includes stops along Wilshire Boulevard at La Brea, Fairfax, La Cienega, Rodeo, and stops somewhere in Century City, and near UCLA.

The project is in its final environmental impact statement phase. Part of that involves keeping people updated on decisions about station sites and the costs associated with the estimated $5 billion project.

The first meeting is at 6 p.m. Monday at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. That’s on Wilshire Boulevard, not far at all from where Metro wants to locate a subway station some day.
