Los Angeles city officials have taken another step toward considering a proposed downtown NFL stadium with the formation of a special City Council committee that will evaluate the plans.
City Council President Eric Garcetti announced members of the project's ad hoc committee Tuesday.
The committee is chaired by Councilwoman Jan Perry, whose downtown district includes the city-owned convention center campus where the proposed stadium would be built.
The vice chair will be Councilman Bill Rosendahl, who has raised concerns about the stadium's financing plans and its potential impact on convention center activities during construction.
Other members are councilmen Tony Cardenas, Tom LaBonge and Ed Reyes.
The downtown stadium is being proposed by entertainment firm AEG. A rival plan envisions a venue in the city of Industry east of Los Angeles.
