A convicted child killer in California will begin to serve his life sentence in Indiana. Joseph Duncan will be on death row there for a string of killings.
The admitted child killer had already been sentenced to death for the killing of an Idaho boy, his mother and two other people.
He avoided the death penalty in California in exchange for pleading guilty to the kidnapping, rape and murder of 10-year-old Anthony Martinez 14 years ago. Prosecutors struck the deal after consulting with Anthony’s family.
Duncan abducted the boy from the front yard of his Beaumont home. His body was later found about 100 miles away near Joshua Tree.
The presiding Riverside County judge said he had “never met a more evil person” in his 31 years on the bench.
