Wednesday night’s game against the Lakers could be the Sacramento Kings’ last home game in the state capital. On Thursday, the NBA owners will meet in New York to talk about moving the team to Anaheim. Orange County businesses seem happy with the prospect.

Wherever you turn in Anaheim – the Chamber of Commerce, the Visitors and Convention Bureau – business owners are happy with the prospect of attracting more tourists to Anaheim, or at least getting them to stay a little bit longer.

Linda Newby is the owner of Gallery Travel, an Anaheim travel agency that has been around for 32 years.

She says she hasn’t fielded any calls yet about trips centered around the new basketball team. But Newby says the reaction around town is clear.

"Hugely positive," Newby says. "Just like having a world class baseball team and hockey team here, it can only give us an opportunity to have more world attention on our city and bring that interest here."

Of course, it will be up to the NBA owners to decide.

They will hear from Sacramento officials and Anaheim city leaders during their New York meeting.

A majority vote by the owners will send the Sacramento Kings south to Anaheim.
