Animated and family films did well this Easter weekend.
The colorful animated birds of ‘Rio’ danced at the top of the box office for a second week in a row with about $27 million.
Tyler Perry’s latest pic opened at number two. The newest installment of the series of sassy grandmother Madea movies pulled in about $26 million.
Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson's circus romance "Water for Elephants" premiered in third place. And the animated easter bunny movie “Hop” is fourth.
Disney's latest nature documentary "African Cats" is this weekend's other new wide release. It opens at number 6.
The numbers add up nicely for Hollywood overall – the studios scored a second-straight weekend of revenues rising over last year at this time.
