UC Irvine and Fudan University announce new U.S.-China Institute for Business and Law

UC Irvine is joining forces with a university in China to create a new business and law institute.

The future U.S.-China Institute for Business and Law will maintain facilities on the campuses of UC Irvine and at Fudan University in Shanghai. The think tank will bring together Chinese and American scholars, industry leaders and students who want to better understand the business and legal climates in both countries.

It’s the idea of international real estate investor John Long. He was born in China, but he’s lived almost all of his life in the United States.

The Long Family Foundation has pledged $2.5 million up front to create of the new institute and an equal amount if the institute can raise matching funds. The institute will publish research in English and Chinese, and will hold conferences in each of its two home countries.
