World beard and moustache champions speak about their love of facial hair.
What do Charles Darwin, ZZ Top and Santa Claus have in common? Historically epic facial hair.
Lustrous beards and moustaches still grow on men who participate in facial hair competitions around the world.
Jack Passion, the two-time Natural Beard World champion, participated in a recent contest at the Silverlake public library. His naturally red torso-length beard won first prize - and a few smiles.
“If you hiked for 50 miles with no water and you saw the most beautiful waterfall you had ever seen in your life except that it was molten hot lava and it was just pouring down a man’s torso," says Passion, "that’s my beard."
The rewards didn’t go to him – the competition raised more than $200 for the library.
