David Beckham is set to return to the Los Angeles Galaxy.
David Beckham, used to the posh life, is set to stay on as midfielder for the Los Angeles Galaxy, despite reports he was offered almost twice his previous $6.5 million annual salary to join forces with the French.
After weeks of negotiating, the 36-year-old soccer celebrity turned down an offer to join the French club, Paris Saint-Germain, it was announced on Tuesday.
"David Beckham is not coming," PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi said at the Qatar Open tennis tournament. "We feel a little disappointed. But both sides agreed it would be better that we not do the deal ... maybe in the future."
The former England captain's five-year contract with the Galaxy ended in November following his first MLS Cup win. Clubs across Europe expressed interest in the H&M "bodywear" creator/model, however Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham's husband ultimately decided not to relocate his family.
A new, rolling one-year contract with the Galaxy is said to be finalized this week. The MLS season begins in March.
