Your next gig?
Last week, GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich gave a boost to the space industry, promising to have a permanent base on the moon by the end of his second term. NASA isn’t waiting for the election results.
If you go to USAJobs.gov and type in “astronaut,” you’ll see the Lyndon Baines Johnson Space Center is looking for candidates to work on the International Space Station.
The pay’s pretty good — $64,724 to $141,715 a year. "Frequent travel may be required." You need a B.A. in either engineering, biology, physical science or math. That leaves me out.
Plus three years of related experience or a thousand hours piloting a jet. You also have to be between 5'2" and 6'3".
The only bad news: the deadline to apply was Friday. But keep checking. New jobs post daily.
