Several thousand utility customers have lost power, mostly east of Los Angeles, as gusty winds blow through the L.A. area.
Southern California Edison spokesman Paul Klein says about 6,000 customers have lost power since the winds began blowing around noon Thursday.
Most of the outages are in Altadena, Arcadia, Monrovia and Montebello.
The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories into the evening for mountains, valleys and some coastal areas of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The forecast is for winds of 25 mph to 40 mph with some gusts topping 60 mph.
