Authorities say an off-duty parole agent was shot and wounded during an attempted robbery at a barbershop in Inglewood.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesman Luis Patino says the robber opened fire during the attempted robbery at the shop at 85th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard late Thursday afternoon and struck the parole agent.

Patino says the agent is in stable condition at a local hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled after the shooting.
