An Expo Line clearance testing site in West L.A. The new line was set to announce an opening date sometime in the next few months.
A sedan carrying six passengers collided with an Expo line light rail train conducting a test run through downtown L.A.
Jose Ubaldo, a spokesman with the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority, says he has no immediate information on the extent of the injuries.
The collision occurred at a street intersection shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday.
Footage from TV news helicopters shows the driver side of the vehicle crushed against the front of an Expo line train as firefighters used the Jaws of Life to pull the driver out of the car.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. There were no passengers on the train.
The Expo line connecting downtown to Culver City is set to open later this year.
