Finalists for the prestigious James Beard Foundation Awards were announced on Monday, and one L.A. restaurant has three reasons to celebrate.
Osteria Mozza is already considered one of L.A.’s finest restaurants, and now it has even more luster.
Co-owner Nancy Silverton is one of six nominees in the national Outstanding Chef category. The restaurant’s Dahlia Narvaez was nominated as Outstanding Pastry Chef, and Matt Molina is nominated for Best Chef in the Pacific Region.
Other L.A. nominees include Piero Selvaggio of the Valentino Restaurant Group and Caroline Styne, whose establishments include Lucques, AOC and Tavern.
The James Beard Foundation Awards cover almost the entire restaurant spectrum — from chefs and restaurateurs to cookbook authors and food journalists to restaurant designers and architects. They are (as their website says) "the highest honor for food and beverage professionals working in North America."
Winners of the James Beard Awards will be named May 7 in New York City.
