The president of the Los Angeles City Council is recovering from a serious fall that sent him to the emergency room, he said today.
Councilman Herb Wesson was absent from last week’s meetings because of a fall that left him looking “like Joe Frazier after the Thrilla in Manila,” he said.
“I did have a terrible fall and I feel lucky and blessed to be here,” he said. “We only have this moment so live it, enjoy it. If there are people that you care about, make sure they know that you love them.”
The Tenth District representative was in good spirits as he opened today’s meetig of the Los Angeles City Council. He even made light of the concern his colleagues showed for his injury.
“Many of you called. Many of you sent texts, even (Councilman Paul) Koretz said, 'I heard you got elbowed by Metta World Peace,' so you see how sensitive he was. I truly appreciate it,” Wesson said.
Additional details of Wesson’s injury were not immediately available.
