Former Lakers superstar Shaquille O’Neal endorsed City Attorney Carmen Trutanich for Los Angeles County district attorney today in a robo call to voters.

Trutanich is one of six candidates in the June 5 primary to replace D.A. Steve Cooley, who declined to run for a fourth term.

In the call to voters, O’Neal focused on what a Trutanich win would mean for children and young adults.

“Trust me. I don’t get involved in politics very often. But, as a father and police officer, when it comes to our kids, I’m going to get involved,” O’Neal said in the call.

The former NBA star is a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Port Police and Miami Beach police.

The robo call can be heard here.
