If you drive Coldwater Canyon Boulevard to commute between the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles, you might want to plan a detour. Traffic may be tied up starting Wednesday just south of Ventura Boulevard when workers start replacing a pipe in one of the county’s major water lines.
Jeff Bray of LADWP said drivers may anticipate daytime delays through the construction’s anticipated end date in March.
“Everyone’s calling it a closure," said Bray. "And we’re not doing a closure. We’re simply doing an intermittent reduction of the traffic lanes where we’ll be flagging for maybe, anywhere from a day to a week or two, and then there will be periods of time where there’s free-flowing traffic, one lane in each direction.”
Bray said Coldwater Canyon will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the week, and also on some weekends, as crews replace a 1.3-mile-long section of water pipe from 1914 that ruptured three years ago.
